Winter Dining

11th November 2012

Its almost mid November, its getting colder and the last of our overnight guests have departed with only a handful of bookings left until the end of the year. Our café clientele is dwindling and many people will already be starting to think of the festive season and what lies ahead in December. Next Saturday 17th will see the Café close during day-time hours for the rest of the winter. Day-time closure allows us to embark on another idea. Edna and I have always thought that The Honeypot could be used as a “ bistro styled meeting place” and made available for evening dining options. Ive always felt that our premises could lend itself well as a place for local residents to come together, especially during the winter months, to have a laugh, eat and drink. So, on Wednesday 14th November our first foray into informal dining takes place at 7.15pm with an evening theme “ Tapas and Beyond”. There any many ways of eating Tapas, for example as a first course, then having a rest before having some more. What can be really enjoyable is to share some small dishes amongst friends and follow up with something more robust like a paella or a fish stew. Best served with a young red wine, an unoaked Tempranillo would do the trick. Sample Menu To Begin Sharing Plates Patatas Bravas With Soured Cream & Smoked Paprika Albondigas , Meatballs In Rich Tomato Sauce Ensaladilla Rusa Atun , Tuna Fish Salad Boquerones , Marinated Anchovies To Follow Chicken, Chorizo & Chickpea Stew Zarzuela ( Saffron Fish Soup ) Served with bread To Finish Pastel de Chocolate y Almendras (Chocolate and Almond Cake) Or Queso Manchego Reserva ( Goats Cheese served with quince jelly ) Coffee or Tea £16.95 p per person
